Why do we require a reference?

We require someone who knows you to confirm that they actually know you.

In a world where AI-generated videos are increasingly realistic, the ten pictures you share with us cannot guarantee that you are genuinely known or that you participate in the activities shown in those pictures. For example, taking a picture in a church does not necessarily mean that you attend that church.

While references cannot guarantee everything that may be required from a security perspective, they provide some level of assurance that there is someone we can contact if you break the terms of your contract or become harmful to other participants.

Because we want to protect our participants, we require references. At the same time, this process also helps protect you from other participants because we try to obtain as much relevant information as possible without unnecessarily compromising your security.
